Washington, DC—March 7, 2013—For too long, Republicans have opined on the need to diversify their ranks and yet have done little to achieve that goal. The Conservative Melting Pot PAC, founded by conservative blogger Crystal Wright, is dedicated to supporting diverse candidates who embody the conservative principles of limited government, personal success and American exceptionalism.
“After Mitt Romney lost the 2012 election because of his inability to appeal to the growing ranks of minority voters in America, it was clear the time for talking was over,” said Crystal Wright, editor of the blog Conservative Black Chick.
“I’m excited to see the creation of the Conservative Melting Pot PAC, which not only will help grow the GOP by supporting more minority conservative candidates running for office but also remind Americans of the Republican Party’s rich history of inclusion and fighting for civil rights,” remarked Senator Rand Paul (R-KY).
Organized as a federal political committee, Conservative Melting Pot PAC’s mission is to grow the Republican Party through backing federal and state candidates, particularly minorities and women, who are committed to taking the conservative message to every neighborhood in America.
“Conservative Melting Pot PAC will help elect candidates who not only reflect the changing faces of America, but who also take the message of conservatism to every voter. People connect with people who look like them. That’s big tent politics and that’s how the GOP will grow,” said Wright.
The Republican Party over several decades has been the party with blinders on, talking almost exclusively to one race of voters. As white voters represent a shrinking proportion of the national electorate, is shifting away from white voters, the GOP’s strategy is no longer good enough, as shown by the 2012 presidential election results. Mitt Romney won the white vote by 20 points but President Obama won 71% of the Hispanic, over 95% of the black and 55% of the woman vote.
Wright has assembled a team of strong conservatives to serve on the PAC’s board of directors to help identify candidates to support.
Board member James Link is partner and owner of a leading federal government relations firm in Washington, DC. His prior political experience includes working as a congressional staffer for U.S. Representatives Dick Cheney (R-WY) and Bill Dickinson (R-AL) as well as for U.S. Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY).
Board member Monique Morton is a life-long resident of Minnesota with over 20 years’ experience working in finance/accounting for Fortune 125 organizations. As a grassroots conservative activist, Monique managed her own successful 2012 campaign for a city council seat in Prior Lake.
Michael Adams serves as Treasurer/Counsel for the PAC. Michael is a partner with the law firm of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP and Treasurer/Counsel to a number of Republican-leaning federal and state political organizations.
Chairman of the Board Crystal Wright is the owner of the public relations firm the Baker Wright Group and editor of the blog Conservative Black Chick. Her nearly two decades of experience in communications tackling tough policy issues for clients combined with her passion for conservatism will drive the PAC’s growth.
“Conservative values are winning values. When individuals are empowered through education and strong families they are given the basic tools to thrive in life and achieve the American dream. Conservative Melting Pot will help advance this vision,” said Wright.
Growing the party through inclusion is what the Conservative Melting Pot PAC is about. In supporting diverse candidates, the PAC seeks to reintroduce the history and principles of the Republican Party to the American electorate to inspire them to join the conservative movement.
